Sparta Group's ERS International Expands Carbon Credit Program with a New Crypto Mining Client
Toronto, ON - Sparta Group (TSXV:SAY) has confirmed the addition of another bitcoin miner to its ERS International carbon credit program. This marks a notable expansion of the initiative, targeting sustainability in the cryptocurrency sector.
Joseph Cimorelli, Director of Global Business Development at ERS, emphasized the importance of generating carbon credits through e-waste recycling. While confidentiality agreements prevent disclosure, he noted that the new client is a significant player in the bitcoin industry. The program initially gained traction in late 2022 with Hut 8 Mining, a major digital currency miner. Since then, several other cryptocurrency miners have joined.
Given Canada's status as the fourth-largest Bitcoin mining hub, Sparta Group's program has attracted Canadian and U.S.-based clients. The initiative aims to mitigate the electronic waste problem, a notable concern given the energy demands and equipment lifecycle in bitcoin mining.
