Sparta Group's ERS International Secures Carbon Credit Deals with Leading Bitcoin Miners
Toronto, ON / ACCESSWIRE / September 19, 2024 – Sparta Group (TSXV:SAY) has announced that nearly 50 percent of the world's top eleven bitcoin miners have joined its carbon credit program through ERS International, an e-waste recycling operation under Sparta's Environment division.
Bitcoin mining, requiring extensive computing power, leads to significant energy consumption. ERS International addresses this by generating verified carbon credits through industrial-scale electronics recycling. These credits help miners offset their carbon emissions.
Joseph Cimorelli, ERS Director of Global Business Development, emphasizes that the carbon credits are generated via internationally recognized methodologies, showcasing ERS’s commitment to sustainability.
ERS's carbon credit program adheres to ISO 14064 standards and can apply to a variety of industry sectors. Currently, the price of one carbon credit is $80 per tonne, expected to rise to $95 per tonne by next year.
Tony Peticca, President of Sparta, expressed pride in the growing interest in the carbon credit program. ERS serves diverse industries, including retail, technology, automotive, and government agencies.
