ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Invests US$3.2 Billion in India

ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has announced a major investment of US$3.2 billion to expand its data centre capacity in India. This move aims to add 550MW of capacity, nearly tripling the company's IT load capacity over the next 5-6 years. The investment comes as a response to the growing digital economy in India.

This strategic expansion aligns with the increasing demand for digital infrastructure, driven by data consumption, cloud computing, and AI applications. The investment further strengthens STT GDC's market leadership in India, where it currently holds about 28% market share by revenue.

STT GDC India operates 28 data centres across 10 cities, with a total combined capacity of over 318MW. The company serves around 1,000 enterprise customers, including many Fortune 500 companies. The company has also been recognized as a Great Place to Work for the fifth consecutive year.

Bruno Lopez, President and Group CEO of STT GDC, stated that the investment is a testament to their confidence in Digital India's future. He also emphasized the role of this investment in accelerating India's digital transformation, in line with Prime Minister Modi's vision for the country's digital economy.
