STMicroelectronics strengthens its position in sensors through the acquisition of NXP MEMS

STMicroelectronics has signed an agreement to acquire NXP Semiconductors' MEMS sensor business for up to $950 million in cash. This strategic acquisition aims to expand ST's offerings in the automotive, industrial, and consumer markets. In 2024, NXP's MEMS business generated approximately $300 million in revenue.

The transaction is expected to be accretive to ST's earnings per share upon its expected closing in the first half of 2026. Funded with existing cash, the agreement includes an initial $900 million and an additional $50 million subject to conditions.

With this acquisition, ST aims to strengthen its technological capabilities and MEMS product portfolio while benefiting from the integrated component manufacturer model. This transaction will enable ST to enhance its relationships with automotive suppliers, supporting its development in a growing market.
