Swiss Re Named Co-Investment Manager for GAM Catastrophe Bond Funds
Swiss Re, through its subsidiary SRILIAC, will be appointed co-investment manager of GAM's insurance-linked security (ILS) fund range, including the GAM Star Cat Bond UCITS Fund, effective from 7 May 2025. Swiss Re, which manages approximately USD 5 billion in ILS assets, will co-manage GAM's ILS funds totaling USD 3 billion in assets as of March 2025.
As co-investment manager, Swiss Re will oversee investment and portfolio management, while GAM will focus on risk management and global distribution. The collaboration will enhance ILS fund offerings and innovation. Swiss Re's extensive experience in cat bonds, with assets managed since the 1990s, promises to benefit investors through increased risk knowledge and proprietary data.
Swiss Re's involvement provides investors with access to an asset class with low correlation to traditional financial markets, meeting growing demand due to economic changes and climate challenges.
