Tectonic Metals Achieves 96% Gold Recovery in First Heap Leach Tests
Tectonic Metals Inc. announced the results of its inaugural scoping metallurgical heap leach column tests from Alaska's Flat Gold Project. The tests, conducted on ¾-inch material from both oxidized and non-oxidized mineralized rock, achieved gold recoveries of 96% and 91%. This outcome validates the project's heap leaching potential.
CEO Tony Reda described the results as a major milestone, highlighting the project's similarities to Kinross Gold's Fort Knox Mine. He emphasized the significance of the tests in confirming the project's economic viability and potential for cost-effective, large-scale mining operations.
Key findings revealed that over 80% gold recovery occurred within 36 days for both high and low-grade composites. The tests also showed that gold recoveries were not affected by the presence or absence of oxides, and that agglomeration was not necessary, potentially lowering processing costs.
