Huawei Highlights 5G-A and U6GHz at MWC 2026

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Huawei's ICT Business Group CEO, Yang Chaobin, underscored the need for 5G-A to address the demands of the mobile AI era. He emphasized the transformative role of 5G-A in bridging generational network gaps and enhancing AI connectivity. The use of U6GHz spectrum is pivotal to unleashing the potential of new AI applications, Yang noted.

Yang pointed out that the rapid evolution of AI is narrowing network capability gaps. The next five years are deemed critical for mobile AI service development, especially as 6G standards are expected by 2029. Huawei is actively working on consensus for 6G definitions and use cases.

Highlighting global imbalances, Yang mentioned that deploying technologies like Huawei's RuralStar is crucial to closing the digital divide, which affects millions lacking mobile coverage. The innovative solutions serve regions in Africa, South America, and Asia.
