Thailand's NACC Enhances International Collaboration to Combat Transnational Corruption

In response to the challenges posed by rapid digitalization and the emergence of sophisticated transnational corruption tactics, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) of Thailand is stepping up its efforts through increased collaboration with international organizations. This strategic move is aimed at adopting global standards in the fight against these pervasive illicit activities. The recent meeting between Mr. Niwatchai Kasemmongkol, Secretary-General of the NACC, and representatives from the Nordic Police Liaison Office highlights the importance of international cooperation in battling corruption that transcends national boundaries.

During this meeting, discussions centered on the exchange of legal information, case coordination, and academic cooperation, including the sharing of knowledge and anti-corruption practices. Such collaboration is poised to bolster Thailand's Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), facilitating more effective prevention and suppression of corruption within the country. Denmark, in particular, has shown a keen interest in partnering with the NACC to address transnational corruption issues, emphasizing the significance of information exchange in combating corruption.

Expanding its network of cooperation, the NACC has entered into memoranda of understanding with 25 different law enforcement agencies and international organizations globally. This network includes a diverse range of partners, from ASEAN countries to international entities like the World Bank and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), underscoring Thailand’s commitment to a collaborative approach in eliminating corruption on a transnational scale.
