Thales Acquires Cobham Aerospace Communications to Strengthen Avionics Portfolio

Thales has officially completed its acquisition of Cobham Aerospace Communications, known as AeroComms, in a move poised to significantly enhance its avionics offerings. Cobham Aerospace Communications is recognized for its advanced safety cockpit communication and connectivity systems, making it a valuable addition to Thales. This acquisition marks a crucial step for Thales in solidifying its global leadership in the aerospace sector, particularly in the realm of connected cockpit technologies.

With approximately 734 employees, including about 190 engineers, AeroComms’ operations span across France, South Africa, the USA/Canada, and Denmark. Thales anticipates this acquisition will deliver considerable value to its shareholders, aligning with the financial targets set in July 2023. The integration of AeroComms’ technologies and expertise is expected to accelerate Thales’ contributions towards a more sustainable and efficient aerospace future.

Yannick Assouad, Thales Executive Vice-President Avionics, emphasized the significance of this acquisition in enhancing the company’s capabilities in the rapidly evolving communications and connectivity market. Nicolas Bonleux, Chief Executive Officer of Cobham Aerospace Communications, also expressed enthusiasm about the merger, highlighting the potential for continued innovation and growth within the avionic products sector.
