AGFUND Honored for Inclusive Banking and Social Impact Achievements
The Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) has been awarded the "Excellence in Inclusive Banking and Social Impact" at the 2026 Sustainable Development Goals Awards. This event is organized by the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute in cooperation with the European Savings and Retail Banking Group.
AGFUND President, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal, highlighted the organization's efforts in empowering communities through financial services, establishing a network that has served over 1.3 million clients. The organization's microfinance banks, first launched in Jordan in 2004, now operate across nine countries, prioritizing underserved communities.
The award acknowledges AGFUND's significant contributions in providing financial access and economic opportunities to marginalized populations, with women comprising 59% of borrowers. The institution has disbursed over $1.37 billion in financing to enhance livelihoods, aiming to expand further, particularly in Africa.
