The Association of Academic Radiology Announces Name Change Reflecting Broader Inclusivity

The Association of Academic Radiology (AAR), previously known as the Association of University Radiologists, has announced its official name change. This decision was made by a membership vote during the April Annual Meeting in Boston.

The change reflects a strategic shift towards greater inclusivity within the academic radiology community. The new name aims to encompass the entire spectrum of professionals involved in academic radiology, not just those from universities and traditional radiology backgrounds.

"Our new name, the Association of Academic Radiology, aligns more closely with the diversity and strengths of our membership," said Priscilla J. Slanetz, MD, MPH, FAAR. This new identity further embraces every aspect of academic radiology, including education, research, and leadership.

The rebranding ensures all members of the academic radiology community feel valued. By updating its name, AAR reaffirms its commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment that promotes growth and innovation in the field.
