The automotive market is evolving at the pace of last year
During the first five months of 2024, 98,529 new passenger cars were put into circulation in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. This figure represents a slight decrease of nine registrations compared to the previous year. In May, 21,265 vehicles were registered, i.e. 1.4% less than in May 2023.
Hybrid engines continue to gain market share. Four out of ten new cars have a hybrid engine. These engines saw their market share increase from 36.1% to 40.1% in one year. On the other hand, registrations of electric cars decreased by 4.3%.
Thomas Rücker, new director of auto-suisse since June 1, 2024, cites improving conditions for electric mobility as a priority. It highlights the need to make the transition to electric vehicles simpler and more attractive.
