Thailand Eyes Global Content Collaboration at Cannes

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) of Thailand unveiled its "Reimagining Thailand" vision during "Thai Night Cannes 2026" at the Cannes Film Festival. This initiative aims to position Thailand as a strategic partner in the global entertainment and creative economy, transitioning from a filming destination to a content creator.

Ms. Sunanta Kangvalkulkij, Director-General of DITP, emphasized Thailand's evolution in the creative industries. The approach aligns with government policies focusing on the creative economy as a growth driver.

Recent achievements include film successes such as "How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies," which grossed over US$73 million globally, and international acclaim for "A Useful Ghost" at Cannes.

DITP also highlighted growing demand for Thai series internationally and the rise in international productions shot in the country, generating significant revenue and supported by cash incentives.

The event coincided with the 170th anniversary of Thailand-France diplomatic relations, underscoring long-term cultural and economic ties.
