The Royal Mint Releases Star Trek 50p Coins
The Royal Mint has launched two special 50p coins to celebrate Star Trek's 60th anniversary. This is the first time the sci-fi series features on UK coins, following the success of past collectable series. Nearly 800,000 coins were previously sold in 60 countries since 2023.
On September 3, the first coin became available, showcasing the Vulcan salute and the phrase "Live Long & Prosper." The second coin, expected in November, will feature notable spacecraft such as U.S.S Voyager and Enterprise models. Some coins will include colors representing the visual legacy of the original TV series.
Tim Mulhall of The Royal Mint noted the partnership celebrates the franchise's impact by offering fans memorable keepsakes. Partnering with Paramount, the collection attracts Star Trek's devoted fanbase, honoring the last six decades of cultural influence and its continued legacy.
