Three Quarters of US Consumers Do Not Trust Existing Caller ID Information

MCLEAN, VA / ACCESSWIRE / September 12, 2024 / Trust in caller ID information among US consumers is virtually nonexistent. Research by Numeracle™ Inc. reveals a significant need for verified caller ID information, as 66% of participants say better accuracy would encourage them to answer previously unrecognized calls.

Scam and spam calls are a persistent issue, with 77% of respondents experiencing them at least weekly. 43% of scam victims answer calls due to inaccurate caller ID, while 69% miss important calls because of mistrust in caller information. Despite efforts in the industry, skepticism remains high.

Consumers largely distrust unknown caller IDs; 86% avoid answering such calls, and 85% rarely trust them. This mistrust also negatively impacts brands, with perceptions and loyalties damaged if associated with spam or scam calls. Numeracle’s EIM platform aims to enhance caller ID accuracy and rebuild consumer trust.

The study indicates that establishing a secure ecosystem is critical for curbing the negative impact on brands and improving communication reliability. More comprehensive solutions are needed to address these challenges and restore trust in caller ID information.
