Top-Level Domain ‘.locker’ Launches With Onchain Utility
Orange Domains has launched its first top-level domain (TLD), .locker, providing Web3-connected solutions. The partnership involves Trust Machines, Tucows, DISH, and Hiro Systems. The .locker domain offers functionalities of traditional web domains, integrated with Bitcoin-powered digital identities.
The .locker solution bridges Web2 and Web3, catering to users who want both website and email capabilities along with Web3 applications like decentralized finance and crypto asset management. This new TLD provides premium domain features and Bitcoin interoperability for trading and managing digital assets.
The initial launch phase is for trademark holders registered in the Trademark Clearing House. The general public can access .locker domains from September.
Max Orcutt from EchoStar highlighted DISH's innovative approach, emphasizing their early acceptance of Bitcoin and ongoing exploration of connectivity solutions, including Open RAN 5G and Web3.
The .locker domain is set to cater to various users, from freelancers to small businesses, providing seamless customer acquisition, payments, and security. Orange Domains appreciates ICANN's efficient process and looks forward to registrars offering .locker to users.
