TotalEnergies and partners commit to access to energy
TotalEnergies, bp, Equinor and Shell are joining forces to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goal 7. They are jointly investing $500 million to improve access to energy in key regions. This commitment will primarily benefit populations in sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia, who often lack access to electricity and clean cooking methods.
Despite global efforts, the number of people without electricity continues to grow. As of 2022, 685 million people were still affected. This partnership aims to support sustainable energy projects, such as solar systems and microgrids, to promote energy inclusion and improve public health.
The four companies are collaborating with various stakeholders to maximize the social and financial impact of this initiative, thus reinforcing their commitment to a just energy transition.
