Türkiye Textile Biennial Highlights Water and Art Intersection

The second Türkiye Textile Biennial has opened in Antalya, showcasing pieces under the theme "Wave Fabric." Curated by Nihat Özdal, the event runs from February 22 to April 13, 2025, in venues across Gazipaşa and Alanya.

Significant historical sites such as the Ancient Cities of Selinus and Lamos provide the backdrop for this cultural event. Özdal emphasizes the pressing issue of water consumption in textiles, highlighting the industry's use of 93 billion cubic meters of water annually, which contributes to 20% of global water pollution.

Artist Özge Kahraman, presenting in Yalan Dünya Cave, describes the experience as a dream come true, exploring the intersection of physical and historical art contexts. Other artists, like American Thomas Jackson and Swedish Diana Orving, focus on blending human-made materials with nature and themes of movement.
