Valora posts significant sales growth in 2023 thanks to expansion of its food business

Valora announced strong sales growth for the year 2023, with group revenue reaching CHF 2.8 billion, an increase of CHF 218 million or 8.5% compared to the previous year. This increase is mainly attributed to the increase in sales of food products in all divisions. The pretzel wholesale segment in particular saw the most notable growth, with an increase of almost 20%.

In a difficult global economic environment, Valora not only saw sales growth across all business segments, but also improved its operating profit (EBIT) by 34%, reaching CHF 70 million. This performance can be explained by increased sales of food products, the development of pretzel wholesale and the positive effects of vertical integration in pretzel production.

To meet growing consumer demand for fresh and healthy food away from home, Valora has deployed its “foodvenience” strategy, combining fresh food offerings and retail. The company has added 42 points of sale to its network, bringing the total to more than 2,800 stores in several European countries.

In Switzerland, Valora strengthened its position in the convenience sector by completing the acquisition of Moveri gas station stores, expanding its network to around 180 points of sale. With this expansion, avec becomes one of the main Swiss suppliers in the field of convenience, while k kiosk remains the most widespread brand of the Valora Group, representing almost 40% of all points of sale.
