Valworx Partners with University of Alabama's Rocketry Team for Competition
Valworx, Inc, a premier supplier of actuated valves and controls, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the Alabama Rocketry Association (ARA) at the University of Alabama. This collaboration aims to provide actuated valves for ARA's innovative kerosene and liquid oxygen-powered bipropellant rocket engine, set to compete in the Friends of Amateur Rocketry Dollar Per Foot contest.
The ARA's Liquids program, which began in 2021, has reached a pivotal point with its first successful static hot fire test. Currently, the team is conducting qualification testing to ensure the engine's readiness for flight. With the goal of enhancing their test stand's propellant management system, ARA chose Valworx’s air actuated stainless steel ball valves for their ability to withstand high pressure, flow, and a variety of fluids. Project Manager Aidan Moncelle highlighted the safety and autonomy these valves bring to operations.
Valworx President, Kurt Naas, expressed pride in supporting the future aerospace leaders through this partnership, sharing the company's enthusiasm for the team's upcoming ventures. The ARA plans to integrate the engine into a rocket for the Mojave, California-based competition, demonstrating a significant step towards practical aerospace innovation.
