Veolia, Waga Energy and ENGIE collaborate to develop biomethane in France
Since May 1, 2024, Waga Energy has sold the biomethane produced on the Veolia site in Claye-Souilly to ENGIE, thanks to a private purchase contract. Lasting thirteen years, this contract is the longest signed in France to date.
This collaboration between Veolia, Waga Energy and ENGIE aims to strengthen the biomethane sector in France. Veolia supplies biogas from its waste storage center in Île-de-France, which Waga Energy transforms into biomethane using its WAGABOX® technology, then sold at a price higher than the subsidized rates.
The Veolia site in Claye-Souilly produces 120 GWh of biomethane per year, avoiding the emission of 20,000 tonnes of CO2 eq. ENGIE customers can thus prove the reduction of their carbon footprint thanks to guarantees of origin and Sustainability Certificates.
