Vicinity Motor Corp. Fully Complies with US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards Testing for VMC 1200 Class 3 Electric Truck
Vicinity Motor Corp. (NASDAQ:VEV)(TSXV:VMC), a North American supplier of commercial electric vehicles, announced that its VMC 1200 electric truck has passed all required testing under US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). This milestone allows Vicinity to self-certify the truck's compliance with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) standards, thereby enabling its sale across the United States.
The VMC 1200 has also successfully completed testing by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), achieving 57 MPGe in urban duty cycle testing. This certification confirms its compliance with the EPA's emission standards and verifies fuel economy test results.
Vicinity anticipates obtaining certification from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), which would classify the VMC 1200 as a zero-emission vehicle. This certification would make the truck eligible for California's HVIP incentive program, potentially reducing the purchase cost for buyers.
Brent Phillips, President of Vicinity Motor Corp., emphasized the importance of these certifications for the company’s U.S. market strategy, stating that meeting FMVSS and CARB standards paves the way for broader U.S. sales and participation in state incentive programs.
