VINCI Acquires Majority Stake in Indian Motorway Concession
VINCI Highways, a subsidiary of VINCI Concessions, has signed an agreement to acquire a 51% stake in HKR Roadways Limited. This company holds a concession contract for the SH1 motorway near Hyderabad, India, which lasts until 2041. The transaction involves an equity investment of approximately €40 million.
The SH1 motorway, inaugurated in 2014, is a vital 206 km connection between Hyderabad and the north-east of Telangana. The acquisition, undertaken in partnership with Global Infrastructure Partners’ Emerging Markets Fund, will see VINCI Highways and GIP holding 51% and 49% stakes, respectively.
The deal is projected to conclude by end-2024, pending necessary approvals. This move aligns with VINCI’s broader strategy, strengthening its strategic partnership with GIP, which started in 2019.
