Vodafone and 1&1 Launch National Roaming Partnership

Montabaur, Düsseldorf. On August 23, 2024, Vodafone and 1&1 initiated their national roaming partnership in mobile communications. This agreement follows a preliminary accord reached last year. From August 29, 2024, new 1&1 customers will access both Vodafone’s and 1&1’s mobile networks.

1&1, Germany’s fourth mobile network operator, is expanding its infrastructure. Where 1&1’s 5G network lacks coverage, customers previously connected via Telefónica antennas. This will change as 1&1 partners exclusively with Vodafone for national roaming services. Vodafone has significantly enhanced its mobile network capacity and 5G coverage.

Existing 1&1 customers will also benefit from this partnership, with a gradual transition to Vodafone’s network by autumn 2025. This collaboration is designed for the long term, addressing both rising costs and data demands.

This partnership marks Germany’s largest mobile migration. Both CEOs expressed confidence in the benefits and sustainable growth this collaboration ensures for their customers and networks.
