Waga Energy and Steuben County Launch Innovative RNG Project in New York

Waga Energy, a leader in Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) from landfill sites, in partnership with Steuben County, New York, has commenced generating RNG at the Bath Landfill. This project, starting operations on March 15th, aims to produce up to 207,000 MMBtu of RNG annually. This initiative will fuel approximately 4,000 households with clean energy, substantially reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 13,500 tons annually.

The produced RNG will be fed into the Corning Natural Gas system, showcasing a significant stride towards sustainable energy production. The WAGABOX® technology by Waga Energy, involving cryogenics for gas upgrading, is at the heart of this operation. Markedly, Steuben County emerges as the first in the U.S. to adopt this cutting-edge technology for RNG production from landfill gas.

Under a 20-year agreement, Waga Energy will oversee the operation and maintenance of the RNG facility, with revenues generated from the RNG sold to a private off-taker. This collaboration between public and private entities highlights a substantial shift towards cleaner, renewable energy sources, with tangible benefits for the local community and environment.
