Waga Energy Collaborates on Renewable Gas Project in Spain
Bioreciclaje de Cádiz and Enagás Renovable have partnered with Waga Energy to produce renewable natural gas (RNG) at the Medina Sidonia Landfill in Cádiz, Andalusia. Scheduled for operation by 2027, the facility will use Waga Energy's WAGABOX® technology to convert landfill gas into RNG. This initiative will provide energy to approximately 16,000 Spanish households annually.
The new facility aims to reduce carbon emissions by 21,000 metric tons annually, supporting regional carbon neutrality efforts. The project, representing Waga Energy's second venture in Spain, underscores its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
Bioreciclaje de Cádiz, formed by Valoriza Servicios Medioambientales and GS Inima, manages the waste of 34 municipalities. This collaboration aligns with the circular economy model, turning waste into valuable resources and contributing towards the EU’s decarbonization goals.
