Western Alaska Minerals Begins Field Operations, Prepares for Drilling
Western Alaska Minerals (TSXV: WAM) announced the commencement of field operations at the Illinois Creek property in preparation for the 2024 drill season. Crews have mobilized to set up camp and clear the airstrip, aiming to start drilling around June 8th. The company recently raised C$8.7 million in gross proceeds between April and May to fund these operations.
CEO Kit Marrs shared the excitement of utilizing recent financing for immediate field deployment. Marrs highlighted the objective to explore mineralized connections to a past-producing open-pit gold mine located 6 km southwest of their current site. This marks WAM's third drilling season focused on the carbonate replacement deposit (CRD).
The initial NI 43-101 resource estimate released earlier this year indicates an inferred 75Moz at 980g/t AgEq. The company's 2024 goal involves expanding CRD systems at the LH and Warm Springs targets. Supply flights are scheduled to deliver personnel and equipment within a week to support these efforts.
