Zentek Announces Significant Savings and Environmental Benefits in Toronto Case Study
Zentek Ltd., a commercialization company specializing in intellectual property, has recently completed a case study emphasizing the cost-effectiveness and environmental advantages of using MERV 9A filters over MERV 13 filters in HVAC systems, specifically for the City of Toronto. The study showcases annual cost savings exceeding $40 million, a significant decrease in labor and maintenance costs, and a reduction in energy consumption.
The findings highlight that switching to MERV 9A filters leads to fewer filter changes and lower energy requirements, which contributes to reduced carbon emissions by approximately 3,029 tonnes of CO2 annually. This amount of CO2 could be absorbed by around 49,976 tree seedlings grown over ten years. Additionally, the use of MERV 9A filters could decrease landfill waste significantly, saving the equivalent of about 947 full dumpsters each year.
Greg Fenton, CEO of Zentek, emphasizes the balance of safety in indoor environments and the importance of building decarbonization. Fenton believes that this study underlines the effectiveness of simple, scalable solutions like the MERV 9A filters in managing indoor air quality without adding to the carbon footprint.
