World's Largest Spudcan Fabrication Commences at ZPMC
Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (ZPMC) has begun the fabrication of the world's largest spudcans for a jack-up deepwater crane vessel. This vessel, commissioned by the Guangzhou Salvage Bureau, marks a significant milestone in offshore engineering. The spudcans are crucial for the vessel's stability, especially in deepwater and challenging conditions.
This crane vessel, featuring the longest legs and deepest operating capabilities in China, is designed with a length of 138 meters, a beam of 55 meters, and a draft of 6.5 meters. It can accommodate 150 crew members and incorporates a fully electric propulsion system with enhanced Dynamic Positioning Class 2 capability.
The vessel's spudcans, measuring 9.5 meters in height, 17 meters in length, and 16 meters in width, predominantly use special-grade steel, ensuring durability against wind and wave loads.
