Lithuania Selects Procivis for the National European Digital Identity Wallet Sandbox
Zurich, February 5, 2026 – Procivis AG, a technology market leader for digital identity, credentials and wallets, and a subsidiary of Orell Füssli, announced today that, following a public procurement process, it has been awarded the contract to provide Lithuania’s European Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet sandbox. Working with SDSA, the State Digital Solutions Agency of Lithuania, Procivis will build the national testbed to drive Lithuania’s digital identity activities and ensure readiness in advance of the EU-wide launch.
With Procivis One, its production-ready and eIDAS 2.0-compliant technology for digital identity and wallets, Procivis brings deep expertise to help establish an interoperable ecosystem for Lithuania’s digital identity initiative. Highlights include:
- Key Infrastructure: Procivis will provide the platform to trial secure, user-centric digital wallet use cases for Lithuanian citizens, relying parties, and national organizations
- Regulatory Alignment: The project prepares Lithuania’s readiness for eIDAS 2.0, which mandates that all EU member states provide a national digital wallet by end of 2026
- Cross-Border Usage: The sandbox will test seamless digital identity verification for different national and cross-border use cases such as accessing public services, travel, car rental, and many more. The sandbox is also instrumental for the projects within the LSP Aptitude consortium, one of the European Union’s Large-scale Pilots designed to test digital identity across specific sectors
For this 12-month project phase, the Procivis One technology will serve as the knowledge-building foundation for the future Lithuanian EUDI Wallet infrastructure. This environment allows for immediate testing of real-world use cases using production-ready, eIDAS 2.0-compliant technology.
‘Supporting governments in implementing eIDAS 2.0-compliant digital identity infrastructure, in time and in budget is at the core of our mission’, said Andreas Freitag, CEO of Procivis. ‘Our work with Lithuania will focus on fast-tracking practical validation and interoperability. This collaboration is essential to ensuring that digital identities meet the highest level of security and deliver tangible value to citizens across borders.’
Digital Identity as a National Priority
The EUDI Wallet sandbox serves as a controlled environment for using real-world applications. By testing these ‘journeys’ now, Lithuania aims to reduce administrative friction and ensure its digital infrastructure is among the most advanced in Europe. This initiative reinforces Lithuania’s position as a digital frontrunner and underlines Procivis’ role as a trusted partner in Europe’s evolving eIDAS ecosystem.
‘The cooperation with Procivis accelerates our ability to gain experience in using the European Wallet in real-life use cases for issuers and relying parties in Lithuania and abroad. Procivis was selected through a public procurement procedure, with the maturity of their technology and the know-how of their team. This implementation will also serve to get a strong foundation for the roll-out of the official Lithuanian EUDI wallet to be launched in a timely manner’, said Tomas Misevičius, director at SDSA.
