Peugeot Invest takes a stake in Mérieux NutriSciences
Peugeot Invest commits $175 million to Mérieux NutriSciences to back the acquisition of Certified Group and support the group's ambition to become the first-choice food safety and quality provider in North America, the world's largest market.
This transaction is in line with Peugeot Invest's strategy of investing in leading companies benefiting from sustainable growth trends.
A leading player in food testing
Mérieux NutriSciences, a company controlled by Institut Mérieux, is a global leader in food quality, safety and sustainability solutions. Leveraging 60 years of scientific expertise, the group today employs 10,000 people, relies on a network of 140 accredited laboratories and generates revenues of more than $1 billion. With a global presence, it is uniquely able to serve the entire food value chain. The acquisition of Certified Group marks a major milestone in its growth strategy. Following the integration of Bureau Veritas's global food testing operations in 2024, this transaction allows Mérieux NutriSciences to significantly strengthen its position in North America, a strategic market. As part of this transaction, Peugeot Invest becomes one of Mérieux NutriSciences' main minority partners.
An investment at the heart of Peugeot Invest's strategy
With this investment, Peugeot Invest establishes a position in the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) market, a key segment of business services, one of its four core sectors. Resilient by nature, the food testing segment benefits from structural trends such as rising regulatory requirements, growing consumer expectations around food safety and traceability, and emerging health risks. This transaction illustrates Peugeot Invest's ability to act as a trusted partner to major family shareholders, supporting ambitious growth strategies. Peugeot Invest will be represented on the Board of Directors of Mérieux NutriSciences and will play an active role in its governance to support its long-term value creation.
Jean-Charles Douin, Chief Executive Officer of Peugeot Invest, commented: "We continue to build a portfolio of holdings in sectors where we have strong, long-term convictions. We are pleased to partner with Institut Mérieux to support Mérieux NutriSciences through a new chapter of growth in North America. A world leader in food safety, the company fully aligns with our ambition to support best-in-class companies as they address transformations in their markets."
