Starwave Entertainment Bridges Malaysia to the Global Stage Through Entertainment

Starwave Entertainment is strengthening its position as a bridge between Malaysia and the global entertainment industry through international partnerships, original intellectual property development, and large-scale entertainment opportunities. As part of this direction, Starwave Entertainment announced the development of a new original reality show IP titled The Apex. 

Designed as a global combat sports reality competition, The Apex will bring together amateur fighters from diverse backgrounds and countries, each driven by their own aspirations and unique life experiences. Throughout the series, audiences will witness not only intense boxing challenges and elimination rounds, but also the personal journeys, sacrifices and resilience that have shaped each contestant's path to the ring. The series offers viewers an intimate look at the determination, discipline and spirit required to pursue success in combat sports. Ultimately, one champion will emerge to claim an attractive prize and earn greater exposure within the international combat sports industry. 

Starwave Entertainment is currently still in talks to explore a global renowned boxer involvement in the programme. Further details will be announced once negotiations have been finalised. 

Production is set to take place in Malaysia, creating opportunities and involvements for local creative talents, production professionals and industry partners while bringing Malaysian-developed entertainment IP to international audiences. Anchored by local production capabilities and strengthened by the expertise of the international producing team, the project combines homegrown talent with world-class production standards.  

The team includes Bobby Kim, Creative Director whose credits include Physical: 100 and Culinary Class Wars; Mark PD (Park Sangmin), Producer and Director, known for MAMA, Wonder Girls and SEVENTEEN Project; Ritto Prabu, a VFX producer with credits including Dune: Part Two and Avatar: Fire and Ash; and Asher Yeap, Executive Producer and Creative Director, specialising in reality and branded entertainment.
