TenneT Germany receives MSCI ESG rating of AA
- MSCI ESG rating: AA (provisional)
- Among the global Leaders in Utilities sector
TenneT GmbH & Co. KG (“TenneT Germany”) has received an MSCI ESG Rating of (p) AA, positioning the company among the global leaders within the Utilities sector.
The rating reflects TenneT Germany’s strong performance in managing key environmental and social risks and opportunities, with particularly strong performance in Biodiversity & Land Use and Opportunities in Renewable Energy, complemented by a strong Corporate Behaviour score.
“The AA rating from MSCI provides further external validation of our sustainability efforts and our ability to manage long‑term ESG risks. Consistent ESG performance reinforces our credibility with capital market participants and supports attractive financing conditions for the investments required to expand and modernise the transmission grid. At the same time, it is a clear mandate for us to continuously strengthen our ESG performance, including further enhancing governance and transparency,” said Dr Markus Binder, CFO of TenneT Germany.
MSCI ESG Ratings assess companies’ resilience to long-term ESG risks by evaluating seven rating categories on a scale from 1 to 10, with the overall result translated into a final rating ranging from AAA to CCC. The top-rated companies from the AA and AAA categories are considered global leaders. With a weighted-average key issue score of 6.7 out of 10.0 and an industry-adjusted score of 7.7 out of 10.0, TenneT Germany demonstrates above-average ESG performance compared to global peers in the Utilities sector. The provisional rating is a point-in-time assessment.
With the MSCI rating, TenneT Germany is actively subjecting its sustainability performance to another independent external assessment. It thus marks the company’s second ESG assessment and complements the inaugural ESG rating by ISS ESG from July 2025. In that rating, TenneT Germany received a grade of B, placing it among the top ten per cent in the global Utilities sector.
